Further west is Albufeira which is a very lively resort having two distinct parts. Firstly, the strip, with its modern bars and restaurants staying open well into the early hours. Secondly, is the old town, set in narrow streets leading away from the beach it offers a different type of evening with a good selection of bars and restaurants.

At the Western end of the Algarve is the delightful fishing villages of Alvor, Carvoeira and Lagos, which provide great value for money accommodation and a little slower nightlife than its immediate neighbours. The area is a mix of the traditional and modern with some fantastic coastlines, countryside and historical sites to explore.
