Opened in 1972 and designed by Paul Putman, the Villamartin Golf Course is well adapted to is natural surroundings. It is an interesting course to play, with abundant vegetation and thick woodland. Each of the 18 holes has its own character, with the greatest difficulty being avoiding the obstacles both natural and artificial, such as the gullies and water holes.
The greens are of Bermuda grass and Pencross, which are always magnificently maintained, and gently sloping which makes it a great course for golfers of all levels. Villamartin is a Championship course that has been host to the Mediterranean Open and the 17th hole has been described as one of the most difficult in Spain.
