The South course is the most famous of La Manga's 3 courses. It is a classic Championship course and was originally designed by Robert Dean Putman and then underwent re-modelling by Arnold Palmer in 1975. Over the past 30 years, it has seen competition of the highest standard, and has been the venue of many major international tournaments, such as the Spanish Open and PGA Championships.

The course has been designed so that golfers of all standards can enjoy it. The lakes, bunkers and gullies are all strategically located around the golf course, which provide an extra challenge to the game. The South course is located in the centre of the valley, with wide palm-fringed fairways and few hidden dangers.
