Designed by John Harris and inaugurated in 1978, Pontiente is a well designed course, which even the best of players find hard to beat at times. This 18 hole course is a great challenge for people keen on golf and has wonderful panoramic views. It combines flat holes and others higher up among the pine trees, and has seven lakes and numerous bunkers.

The fairways are kept in superb condition and the greens are very varied, which gives the course shape and character. The 10th hole is considered the most technical of the course, with a lake on the right and tow big bunkers on the left. One of Poniente's features is the wide fairways, which don't make the course any easier as they slope away unsuspectingly and at times the large greens can be deceiving.
